About the Event

In Talk #1, Dr Randi George shared her journey to, through, and within medicine as an Indigenous person: what led her to medicine, her experiences thus far, where she is going… & where she hopes we all go.  The goal of Talk #2, is to provide practical information & suggestions for working with the Indigenous community, including the following:

  1. Indigenous terminology that you should be aware of as a Physician
  2. What is Status & why should we as Health Care Providers know if our Patient has it
  3. Colonialism: its history in Medicine & how this can affect Survivors & their descendants
  4. Key Findings from the In Plain Sight Report: Addressing Indigenous-specific Racism & Discrimination in BC Health Care
  5. Practical Tips for Health Care Providers working with Indigenous Patients
  6. Resources to learn more about our History of Colonization, Current Affairs impacting Indigenous Health & Wellness, & moving forward with Anti-Indigenous Racism & Equity work
